11/27/16
After a room in Shar's temple, we were greeted by Death. His dark majesty called to me. Amidst his visage, I knelt as the others looked on. He bestowed a great gift on each of us, far more than we deserve. He gave me the hilt of a greatsword, it was deeply appreciated not only because I seem to have used up my previous one, but because it was He that gave it to me. It fit perfectly in the sheathe we found recently, and I am eager to use it. Speaking of the absence of my original, I took a liking to the sword I kept from the Nameless Man. It feels as if it weighs nothing first off, and second, I notice that with each successful hit I feel a certain blood lust. Very curious. I'd like it to be professionally identified for further possible experiments...
On into the night, whereupon we came unto another room. Some magic looped us in and around several times before we could find a switch to open a store room. An old matriarchal woman who appeared to be in all the paintings in the halls we (seemingly endlessly) walked appeared as a Banshee. We dispatched her and several of her compatriots though I am interested to find if banshees willingly serve.
With the first of four keys from the dead witch, we set off into our second of four rooms. We came across a split, and for the first time, split as a group. Oddly enough, the females and males went separate ways, the druid being who came with me on the right turn. We inspected what appeared to be a monstrous bed chamber with flesh and bone strewn throughout. I was certain I heard something massive down the blackened stone halls moving around. Likely the same thing murmuring "I can smell you".
As I write this, I am learned (but still new in the game of King's Hand), quite the interesting and straight forward game. An almost giant-like creature named Ghar parlayed with the druid and I for a time which lead to a gamble. A round of King's (he was amiable enough to teach me) wagering two of our magic rings for the key that hung round his neck. I do not believe in such things,as but call it a "lucky" first game, I beat him. The cards were mad enough to somehow explode, which was an odd thing to do seeing as how cards normally do not behave in such a way. In any case, I accepted another round, lost "fairly" and gave our host his winnings. Sianda then wagered two of his, tied with the great Ghar, and as a show of good faith, made an even trade, his two and mine to make four magic rings for Ghar's key. The rest of our companions arrived in time to be invited with us to dine with Ghar for the night. They went on to explain their delay in no specific terms where, and I believe this is true, they had a hassle or struggle with another denizen of this maze over a measly six gold. I believe Ghar will keep myself and the druid in good graces given our experience, though this other denizen being his friend, I doubt the females will have the same preferable outcome. I believe I could crush Ghar between my fingers given more power, but currently he makes for a formidable foe even to me. Perhaps I could make our passage back go more smoothly by reciprocating to the merchant, spending some money with him. We need to save energy for the butcher. I must find Shar.
